This workshop will take you through a series of poses designed to release tension in your body in a safe and gentle way. There will be only 8 poses, which you will hold for 5-8 minutes. Props are used to provide support so that your body can release and let go of tension beyond a simple sensation of stretch. Start your weekend off by taking time to be nurturing to your body, mind, and soul!

Class size is limited, and this once-a-month workshop it sells out quickly; please register early if you plan to attend. No yoga experience is required. No yoga mats are necessary. Dress in layers, including socks.

Dear friends, yoga teachers and my students, come experience Kripalu Yoga’s unique approach to personal transformation in a program that’s practical, integrative, and fun. Two of Kripalu’s outstanding teachers lead this exploration of the profound relationship between energy and consciousness, which is the essence of yoga and the foundation of all mind-body approaches. It will be 6 time I am bringing group from Boston for this workshop because it is one of the best weekend retreats in Kripalu catalog. Participants often tell me after the program – “Why didn’t you tell me it is so good”. I did tell them many times, it is hard to explain the experience, and you need to live it yourself. Another response I have: ”It felt like an incredible 2 weeks of vacation after those 3 days on this program” As a part of “Golden Light group” you will have 20% discount from food and accommodations. You need to mention the group name when you register at Kripalu and let me know, that you are coming. You can join our group even going to any other program at Kripalu at the same time 9/24/15 -9/27/15. You can always take R&R program and design your time out of what is available – horseback riding, canoeing.

Yoga Nidra is a Sleeping state of consciousness. You are guided from Waking state of consciousness to Dreaming state of consciousness and then to Yoga Nidra itself.

In the Sleeping state of consciousness your deepest problems, which drive your actions (karma), could be accessed, examined and purified.

Why practice Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra practice relaxes you, gives you confidence and connects to your center. It helps to develop deep restful sleep. Yoga Nidra helps you to deal with pain. Yoga Nidra cleans thoughts and actions.

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra is a state of deep yogic sleep. Paradoxically, you stay awake and conscious at the same time. Many different methods could lead to Yoga Nidra, but yoga Nidra is not a method, it is a state you achieve.

How does Yoga Nidra work?

We achieve Yoga Nidra in five steps:

  • Acknowledging what is the problem in your life right now which prevents you from being happy.
  • Scanning body and honoring every part of body.
  • Scanning body with attention to important points of energy in the body.
  • Ascending and descending breathe – energy flow through your body.
  • Arriving at Yoga Nidra state itself.

What to expect during Yoga Nidra experience?

Your mind quiets down, your body relaxes.

What are the long term effects of Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra practice helps you to relax, improves sleep, helps to manage pain, gives you confidence and centers you.

Chakra is a Sanskrit term which means spinning wheel or vortex. Chakras or Energy Centers first mentioned 2600 years ago have anatomical correspondence in our body. Altogether there are 7 chakras, and the first 5 are the five nerve centers of the spinal column – the main highway of energy in the body, and the last two are connected to the brain. Chakras are associated with our physical, mental and emotional states. When energy does not flow freely from the Chakras, the body does not function properly, the immune system becomes week. We need to reestablish the free flow of energy in order to heal. During the workshop we will awaken each chakra in the order of its energy frequency by holding specific yoga postures – asanas that open corresponding chakra and by sounding the main sound for each chakra. The workshop will end with Chakra meditation, which brings the final sweep of energy through each chakra. Reserve your space as soon as you decide to participate.
